From Margie -- We lost Barbara's son, John to suicide on Wed. He became severely depressed after Kent's death & was being treated, but sadly lost his battle.
He was was the light of our lives. There are no words for this.
-------
John was loving and devoted to family and friends. He was the son of James Kent Cooper (deceased), and is survived by his mother, Barbara, sister, Meghan, fiancée Nicole Maciopinto, a large, loving extended family and many friends.
John graduated Phi Beta Kappa from the University of Michigan, School of Business where he also received a Masters in Accounting. He worked as a CPA and returned to U of M to attend Law School, where he was elected to Law Review.
John loved the University of Michigan and was active in a variety of venues. Most significantly, he served as Fundraising Chair for Circle K, the student branch of the Kiwanis Club. He was the Founder and President of the University of Michigan Gift of Life Chapter for organ donations. He was successful in registering several thousand donors for this cause.
John was an avid reader. His interests were broad and included euchre, poker, jazz, wine tasting and chess. He served as Web Master for many U of M sites.
His love, quick wit, spirit and memories will be with us always.
