In honor of Michigan State's NCCA basketball win, today's blog is green!
Grampa went for a follow-up visit to the Cardiologist. He had an EKG, a review of his previous tests, and a discussion about whether or not he needed a stress test at this time. He also discussed his venous statsis in the legs, ache in shoulder/arm, Grampa's high level of fatigue and in spite of feeling better, Grampa complains about being dizzy when he bends over and stands up. The general dizziness is one he has expressed for several years.
Other points that were discussed were: his heart is pumping well, his carotid arteries have 36% stenosis and not untypical of what would be found in a 60 year old person. The echocardiogram looked good. The unusual EKG that occurred in the ER of his last hospitalization is not something they are worried about since it occurred after a time of great stress after Grampa's vomiting. The EKG has returned to levels consistent with those he has had over the last several years, which are also typical of a multiple heart bypass patient.
They don't think he needs a stress test until September. The physical therapists requested a clearance on shoulder motion in order not to disturb the pacemaker wires. He was cleared for the physical therapy. He will continue his physical therapy treatments after Easter.
