Stroke or Heart or What?

I met with the managing nurse, the patient nurse and the Managing Doctor Hunter today. Gramma, Uncle Don, Robyn, Grampa and I were in attendance for the meeting with Doctor Hunter. We also obtained copies of Grampa's current hospital chart information. Here's the crux of what we were told and what was documented in the chart:

1) There are no indications that he has had or is about to have a stroke.

2) There are no indications that he has had or is about to have a heart attack.

(Yes, he had a "questionable" EKG in the emergency room. Subsequent EKG and Enzyme tests etc, have made the cardioligist feel comfortable about there being no heart episode influencing his current problem. Yes, his left arm hurts. Yes he walks funny. Yes these CAN be stroke indicators. Still - They DON'T think it's stroke or heart.)

They have concluded that he has vertigo. POSSIBLY caused by small calcium deposits in the ear fluid. They can treat the symptoms to help with dizziness and vomitting. They probably can't outright "cure" the condition, but rather treat the symptoms until the body heals the condition.

HOWEVER, he will need to have a follow-up appointment with an ENT (ears, nose, throat) after he is discharged.

As a further precaution, he should have a follow-up with his cardiologist for a pace-maker check and for a stress test (Persantine(sic)).

As to the leg rash, he's had this condition off and on for years. He should follow up with his GP (which he has been doing off and on for years). (My guess ... I think they see this as a chronic condition that again, they just treat the symptom when it crops up).

As to the shoulder pain. They do not believe it's related to a heart problem. They never came up with an answer last time he was hospitalized. They're not even looking into it this time as its something he needs to follow up with his GP.

He'll probably be released from the hospital tomorrow afternoon.
